Palworld 1.0 reworked breeding ranks — and added new cakes, the Ancient Hatchery, and mutations. If you follow a 2024 video or old calculator, the child can be wrong. Start with the Breeding Guide for the current mechanics, then read on for exactly what changed.
What Changed
- Breeding ranks rebalanced — the rank-average formula now picks different children for many pairs. Every rank on this site is re-verified against 1.0 game data.
- Four new cakes — Mushroom, Vegetable (community report: two eggs per cake), Extravagant Vegetable (mutation boost), and Special (passive inheritance). Full breakdown in How to Make Cake. Site budgets are minima and exclude retries.
- Ancient Hatchery — a new breeding structure alongside the classic Breeding Farm, introduced in the Palworld Wiki 1.0 breeding update history.
- Mutations — bred eggs can randomly mutate into a different outcome with a mutation-exclusive passive skill (~1% base, boosted by Extravagant Vegetable Cake).
- Boss & legendary Pals became same-species only — Jetragon, Grizzbolt, Orserk, Faleris, Paladius, Necromus, Frostallion, Bellanoir Libero and other high-tier Pals (many of them former/active Tower bosses) are flagged “Eligible Child: No” in 1.0: no cross-species pair produces them. The only route is breeding two of the same species, so any 2024 guide claiming rank-average or special-combo shortcuts to these is outdated.
- Same-species / catch-only clarity — event Pals (Terraria collab / Yakushima IDs) are not breedable and never appear as a child. Check the highlighted card on each Pal page and the full special combos list.
Example: Anubis
Anubis sits at rank 570 in 1.0 and its parents shifted with the rework. Use How to Breed Anubis or the calculator with ?target=anubis — do not trust old shortcuts. For the farm and cake setup, see How to Make Cake.
How to Verify
Every Pal page shows breeding rank and the current parent table. The About page lists the data version and last verification date. For the full mechanics, return to the Breeding Guide.
